Newsmaker

Newsmaker

Entertaining since 1982

Based out of Flint, MI, the band, Newsmaker began making a name for itself 25 years ago performing in some of Flint’s hottest clubs – Benjamin’s,     The Nightingale and Network.  Led by drummer, Perry Joseph and fronted by his sister, Kori Roberts, the band has become a local legend.  Their versatility and charisma are two main elements that have successfully sustained them through years.  They are one of the few bands that can totally rock the house in a nightclub setting or perform Frank Sinatra and Phantom of the Opera at a more elegant event. Newsmaker and its members have performed with many national artists including Edgar Winter, Rick, Derringer, Badfinger, Snap, Martha McBride and Grand Funk Railroad.  They have garnered such a large fan base, that the band recently sold out tickets to their 25th anniversary celebration, turning away hundreds at the door.

In the late ‘90’s, the band expanded their repertoire to allow them to perform for many corporate functions, fundraisers, country clubs and weddings, but occasionally Newsmaker will still play the club scene to the delight of their many loyal fans.  Currently, the band consists of bandleader and drummer, Perry Joseph, vocalist, Kori Roberts, keyboardist, Howard Eddy, guitarist, Dennis Briggs, bassist, Bruce Powers and vocalist, Lee Johnson.
